First Day Checklist

Rotation Description:

Community Based, Private Practice Anesthesia Elective/OB Heavy

Where: Beverly Hospital, North Shore, 24 minutes up 128N from Lahey

When: Starting September 6, 2022 a 4 week elective will be offered

Who: CA-3’s only

Beverly Hospital is one of the busiest obstetrical hospitals in Massachusetts. There are approximately 2,400 births per year at Beverly Hospital. Of note, 68% of parturient elect to have an epidural, while 35-40% of births are delivered via Cesarean section.

You will get extensive experience in placing and troubleshooting labor epidurals, as well as managing Cesarean sections (both STAT and scheduled). There will also be ample opportunity to fine tune regional skills using ultrasound, and hone your preoperative skills.

You will work alongside, and learn from experienced, Board Certified Anesthesiologists, with several being fellowship trained in OB anesthesia from BWH.

In this rotation, you will also get experience in providing anesthesia for Electro-convulsive therapy, which are conducted 4 days a week.

The rotation will consist of two overnight call shifts from 7pm-7am on any two Saturday nights, of your choice. You will be accompanied by one attending Anesthesiologist.

Malpractice coverage will remain in force by Lahey Health.
